Music On My Mind v.1

With my senior project presentation coming due on May 1st, I've been tied to my computer more often than not. Hence,I need a kickin' soundtrack to keep me going. I've been using Spotify Premium and their discover feature to recommend a bunch of new music. I'm really digging it! One of my friends actually recommended MØ and I'm head over heels addicted. Slow Love may just be my favorite song literally forever.


Although I don't officially work for Spotify as an Influencer this semester, I continue to stand by the product! I use Spotify every single day. I never felt right downloading music illegally, or I'd get the album with a virus or something; and I always hated buying songs and albums from iTunes because they're expensive and I feel they don't transfer easily from device to device. Okay, Hi, Hello, Sorry.

This entire semester I feel has been sitting at my computer preparing to graduate. Yeah, I graduate in SIX WEEKS. If that isn't a terrifying notion, then I'm not sure what is. My ultimate goal for this semester is to graduate with honors, which means bringing my GPA up to at least a 3.5. As long as my grades stay where they are, this won't be a problem.

So as graduation approaches, I have to have an answer ready for when people ask what I plan on doing after graduation. My standard answer has been, "Please don't ask me that again." And the truth is - I'm really not terribly sure. I have been applying to a few full-time jobs, although the best case scenario would be to be able to support myself on just my Etsy shop for a little while until I can figure everything out. This means that I need to overhaul my shop a little, re-mat my images, add color swatches, optimize my keywords, and all that marketing business mumbo-jumbo.

That being said... I'm looking to get my product out there! If you're a consumer, I'm offering buy one get one free until Sunday night. I'd be happy to send you a sample of my product in exchange for a shout out. Making it in the art business depends a lot on teamwork and help - and I could definitely use some of that right now.

Boston, Massachusetts

Before almost everything else, I am a Bostonian. Growing up in rural suburbia, I remember always running in and out of the city for day trips and traveling. When I was a little older, I recall rounding up all my friends and taking day trips and using the city as our playground. At 18, I enrolled in classes at Suffolk University, with an incredible view of the common. And a few months later, after a series of unfortunate events - I decided to leave home and temporarily relocate to North Carolina to earn my undergraduate degree.

The longer I'm away from home, the harder it gets. Some days are easy, those days I can see myself staying in North Carolina forever. The southern way of life is completely different from how I was raised. But, every time I land back in Boston there's an overwhelming feeling of everything is perfect, and that is how everything is supposed to be.



I had a chance to go home last weekend, and I'll get to go home again this upcoming weekend. I'm happy that my undergraduate degree is almost complete. I had an incredible time experiencing a different geography and a different way of life. I'm sure I'll always remember my time in the south in the fondest way. But this northerner is ready to get back home and plant her roots.

Fall Semester Is Ending!

The fall semester of my senior year in college is coming to an end... quickly. Wow - I never thought I would say that statement. Considering I had never planned on attending college until my senior year of high school, I am extremely proud of myself. I accomplished a whole lot this semester... although I will admit I took on way more than I could appropriately handle. I have big dreams, and a lot of ambition - but I have to remember that I'm not superhuman, and if I spread myself too thin then I will not be able to produce my best work.

That being said, here are a few things that I designed this past semester:






In addition to working at my computer, I worked for The Sampler as an intern. I learned how to contact artists' management in search of things such as media passes, and had the opportunity to watch a little music blog really blossom over the course of a semester.

I had a little bit of additional income through my Etsy Shop. I design a variety of typographic prints and sell them for a small profit.

I can't really say that I'll miss this semester! Though I accomplished a lot, I also wish I could have focused on classes more. Next semester I have a really great schedule with a great set of classes and teachers. It'll be much more conductive to learning, and I'll be sure to not take on too much!
